Description
Note the two sets of multiple waterfalls in the upper left portion of the photograph. Found on the island of Nawiliwili. Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, is approximately ten miles long and up to 3,000 feet deep. Waimea is Hawaiian for "reddish water", a reference to the erosion of the canyon's red soil. This is the river color which flows through the canyon.
